The Hartford is a US-based investment and insurance company.

In this multi-year project, we implemented a phased approach to completely redesign The Hartford's authenticated self-service portal for small business users: the Small Business Service Center (SCSC). I collaborated intensively with business owners and stakeholders at The Hartford to define requirements, test usability, and improve designs prior to each release.

First release

Redesigned look and feel of entire site and designed new pages for Registration, Login, User Roles, Account Summary, and Billing.

 

Second release

Designed new pages for Audit, Certificates, Auto ID Cards, eFiling Cabinet, and eConsent.

Our success on this project helped us win other work with The Hartford, including working on their first mobile self-service portal and The Hartford's Investor Website. 

  • Defined and refined business and user requirements in collaboration with client and project team

  • Directed visual designer and copywriters on the team

  • Managed Junior IA on eConsent, Certificates, eFiling Cabinet, Auto ID Card wireframes

  • Hosted wireframe reviews with client

  • Developed prototype and wrote copy for usability testing

  • Analyzed and updated wireframes after usability testing

  • Conducted visual quality assurance assessments of designs and coded pages
